Mosaic has a long-standing partnership with JAG and Associates Construction. With JAG’s commitment to building sustainable homes and one of Mosaic’s specialties being selling green homes, their client relationship and friendship stretches back years.
Prior to Hurricane Helene hitting WNC, Mosaic Realty had hired JAG Construction to build 2 spec homes in the heart of West Asheville. The homes are under construction, and they happen to be on well water- a rarity in the city. In the days following Hurricane Helene, it became apparent that the City of Asheville municipal water was going to take a while to come back. JAG Construction and Mosaic Realty realized that the wells were an asset, and JAG Construction connected the wells to a generator to supply water to area residents.
SAFE TO DRINK! In the process of delivering non-potable water from our well to residents around the city, JAG Construction was introduced to Planet Water Foundation and Americares Foundation, nonprofits that are focused on bringing clean water access to areas around the globe. Planet Water and Americares provided a mini water filtration plant that filters and chlorinates water to make it safe to distribute as potable water.
The water provided at this station is potable, though you may see a slight yellow tint to the water due to the iron in the water reacting to the chlorine treatment. The water is tested weekly by Pace Analytics for safety. The station is currently set-up with 6 taps for filling your containers of filtered water.
This Drinking Water Station is located at 2 Davenport Place, Asheville, NC 28806, and it’s open to the public daily between 10am and 8pm. Bring your refillable containers if you have them, or help yourself to a reusable water tote (while supplies last).
A special thanks to South Slope Acupuncture’s Autumn Kirgan for her efforts in raising funds through a Go Fund Me campaign to provide 50 reusable water totes for those that need clean reusable containers. This will help the Drinking Water Station users reduce our carbon footprint by avoiding single use plastic water bottles.
