Mosaic to Match Up to $10,000 in Donations to Asheville City Schools Enrichment Program

As involved residents of Asheville, Mosaic Realty agents and employees are passionate advocates for the outstanding area organizations that contribute to the strength and vibrancy of our community. Mosaic’s partnership with Asheville City Schools Foundation highlights this passion; in particular, Mosaic’s support of the foundation has helped to lift its In Real Life (IRL) after-school program. And this year, Mosaic is encouraging others to support the program.

Ahead of Giving Tuesday – a movement to grow global good and generosity that is spotlighted on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – Mosaic will match all donations to IRL, up to $10,000. Visit https://www.acsf.org/giving-tuesday for more information.

A safe and inclusive program

IRL After-School serves middle school students in Asheville City Schools, ages 11-14, of all abilities, racial and ethnic identities, gender identities, and backgrounds. IRL provides learning opportunities that broaden students’ perspectives and encourage them to live a curious life. IRL has transformed the ways in which our community’s youth and families are served after school. 

IRL students participate in experiential learning opportunities up to five days a week after school. Students can create individualized schedules from a diverse, multicultural catalog including STEM, arts and humanities, and health and wellness programs. IRL collaborates with more than 45 community partners to offer in-person program sessions and pop-up field trip experiences such as museum tours, visits to local businesses, and walking history tours. 

Bridging the Opportunity Gap

In the last year, IRL has pivoted programming to a small-group format and increased its focus on supporting children facing challenges of poverty, children of color, and those struggling to achieve school-day success. The program supports Asheville’s youth who would likely be left behind without extended learning opportunities, helping to fill the experiential opportunity gap, support their social-emotional growth, and provide positive mentors. To increase accessibility, IRL waived all program fees for the 2021-22 school year and is providing transportation for all students with need.
