Its location 30 minutes south of Asheville (via Hendersonville Road) provides easy access to all the amenities the vibrant city has to offer. 

Around 3,600 people call the unincorporated Mountain Home community home. It is bordered to the south by the community of Balfour, and to the northeast by Mud Creek, an offshoot of the French Broad River. Varied attractions minutes from Mountain Home

A quick, 4-mile drive away from Mountain Home is the city of Hendersonville. Hendersonville serves up breathtaking views, rich culture and history, and lots of outdoor recreational attractions. Filled with historic buildings and vibrant streetscapes, Hendersonville’s downtown – the largest in Western N.C. outside of Asheville’s – offers many outdoor dining options, as well as unique shops and galleries, along its eclectic Main Street. The Cheers! Trail, in and around Hendersonville, showcases five different types of craft beverages, including breweries, wineries and cideries in the area.

It is home to the sprawling Sierra Nevada brewery – its second in the U.S. The state-of-the-art facility and Taproom and Restaurant draw thousands of visitors from all over the country to enjoy tours, tastings and special events, as well as live music indoors and outdoors, all in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Other popular spots to visit in Mills River include the Mills River Creamery, offering a range of locally made milk, cheeses and ice cream, as well as the Bold Rock Hard Cidery, which has daily tours, tastings, flights and food. 

Western N.C. nature at its finest

Both Pisgah National Forest and DuPont State Forest are a short drive away, offering daytrips overflowing with exhilarating waterfalls, hiking paths and mountain biking trails – you can even take a scenic trail ride on horseback. The area also boasts renowned destinations like Sliding Rock and the Cradle of Forestry, perfect for soaking in the beauty and adventure singular to Western N.C.
