Wortham Center Presents

Every fall, the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts, a three-venue complex in downtown Asheville comprising Diana Wortham Theatre, Tina McGuire Theatre and Henry LaBrun Studio, kicks off Wortham Center Presents. This popular annual season of national and international touring artists boasts live and virtual performances, bringing the best in music, dance, theater and special attractions. Past headliners include Pilobolus, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Black Violin, Paula Poundstone, Rhiannon Giddons, Bela Fleck, and DIAVOLO.

West Asheville Garden Stroll

This volunteer-organized, free community event opens up selected West Asheville gardens to the public. Held every year on the second Saturday of September, the tour features everything from creative to funky to picturesque private and community gardens. Annual themes tie the featured gardens together, with music and entertainment kicking off the event. Attendees can meet experienced gardeners, and explore established gardens as well as newer ones, learning about solutions for such challenges as shade and small spaces, and strategies for growing vegetables, fruits and herbs. They can also learn about incorporating art and creative hardscaping into gardens.

Blue Ridge Pride AshevilleBlue Ridge Pride Festival

Celebrating the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community, Asheville’s Blue Ridge Pride Festival is held every September in downtown Asheville’s Pack Square Park. Two stages feature regional musicians and entertainers, and 150 vendors and organizations showcase a range of food, accessories, entertainment and educational materials. There’s also a kids’ area with mobile art lab, bounce house and more.
