Mosaic Broker Kathleen Cook Hosts Event to Support Youth Soccer Outreach in Asheville

Want to get a kick out of helping the Asheville community? Then join Mosaic Realty broker Kathleen Cook on Dec. 7 from 5-8pm as she teams up with Devil’s Foot Beverage Company for a fun-filled evening in support of Asheville Buncombe Youth Soccer Association and the soccer outreach programs the organization brings to the region.

Doing Good Through Business ABYSA

Through its community partnership “Doing Good Through Business,” Mosaic and its brokers join with Devil’s Foot to host a series of gatherings aimed at supporting various local nonprofit organizations. These Thursday events are held from 5-8 p.m. at The Mule, Devil’s Foot’s South Asheville location (131 Sweeten Creek Rd.). Fifteen percent of all bar sales are donated to a local nonprofit organization, with a Mosaic broker and partner of that organization matching the donation.

The Dec. 7 “Doing Good Through Business” event to benefit ABYSA outreach programming is something that’s near to Mosaic broker Cook’s heart. “I chose ABYSA’s youth outreach programs in part to continue my late husband, Pat Ryan’s, legacy of support for local community youth sports. The impact sports and team building have on our youth, especially our underserved youth, and the dedication of the coaches, volunteers and program directors is awe-inspiring and often unseen by our community. This event is a small way to highlight ABYSA’s incredible programs while raising some much-needed funds. And, as a special treat at the event, I'll share my well-loved ‘Sweet and Spicy Chex Mix’ that I annually made for Pat’s sports radio clients.”

ABYSA Benefit Mosaic Realty

The Asheville Buncombe Youth Soccer Association is a not-for-profit organization offering children and families in Western North Carolina both recreational and competitive soccer programs. With a mission to provide children with the health, social and developmental benefits of youth team sports in an age-appropriate and emotionally safe environment, ABYSA is proud to offer year-round outreach programs that provide soccer opportunities to more than 800 underprivileged and underserved youth in the community.

Among the outreach programs ABYSA offers are:

  • Project KickStart, which provides at-risk youth in Asheville with the opportunity to be involved in soccer or other team sports.
  • Go to Goal!, which offers underserved girls in Asheville a soccer-based afterschool program focused on athletics and life skills. (Mosaic broker Stacey Enos co-founded the Go to Goal! program, eventually handing it off to ABYSA.)
  • Soccer in the Schools, which provides students with a weeklong, soccer-focused PE class, incorporating the benefits of sports and exercise while encouraging them to join an afterschool activity that will contribute to their health and well-being.
