Mosaic Realty has long advocated for the important work nonprofit organizations do in Asheville and Western N.C. And with the start of the new year come more ways to contribute to and strengthen those community organizations. Here are some January events Mosaic is proud to support.
Connect Buncombe Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of Connect Buncombe, presented by Mosaic and open to the public, will be held Jan. 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Archetype Brewing South Slope (39 Banks Ave., Asheville). The volunteer-run nonprofit Connect Buncombe works to support the growth of greenways in Asheville and Buncombe County through advocacy, awareness campaigns, partnerships and volunteer events. The meeting will touch on greenway-related goals including education about the benefits of greenways around the city; advocating for greenways through interactions with elected and DOT officials, as well as other nonprofits; and raising funds for greenway planning and construction projects. Connect Buncombe also holds regular monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of every month at the East Asheville Library, from noon to 1:30 p.m. https://connectbuncombe.org/events/
Asheville Hot Chocolate Races
These fun-filled foot races have been a tradition in Asheville since 2008, beginning as a 10K, with a 1K for the kids. For this year’s Hot Chocolate Races, to be held Jan. 20, participants can choose from a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Kids’ 1K Hill Climb or Marshmallow Dash. Mosaic broker Caley Bowman has been a long-time sponsor of the races, which benefit Isaac Dickson Elementary School’s PTO. The race features a downhill start, with the bulk of the course taking place along the French Broad River, before wrapping with an uphill finish. The Half Marathon begins at 8 a.m., followed by the Marshmallow Dash at 8:15, the 1K Hill Climb at 8:20, the 10K at 8:45, and the 5K at 9; start and finish lines are at Isaac Dickson Elementary (125 Hill St., Asheville). And of course, all Asheville Hot Chocolate Race runners will enjoy amazing hot chocolate from race sponsor French Broad Chocolates along with Farm to Home Milk. https://hotchocolateraces.com/
