The Second Annual Mosaic Art Walk & Benefit was a huge success, with the Asheville community coming out in full force to support our area’s nonprofit organizations. Hundreds of attendees descended on downtown Asheville for a sparkling evening of camaraderie, community and art – in all raising $127,819 in donations (a net of $67,819) for Asheville nonprofits from both the themed raffle baskets at each gallery and the Drive for a Cause United Way raffle.
The free community fundraiser, held May 2 and open to the public, brought together 14 downtown Asheville galleries, to benefit 15 area nonprofits. Attendees took in eclectic pieces from local, regional and international artists while learning about the fantastic work being done by each nonprofit. The participating galleries also featured unique raffle baskets, with proceeds going to each gallery’s highlighted organization. In addition, each gallery contributed a percentage of the evening’s sales to its featured nonprofit.
Benefiting a range of Asheville organizations
The area organizations highlighted at the Art Walk included: Mountain Housing Opportunities, Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, Asheville Art Museum, United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, Asheville on Bikes, Beloved Asheville, Blue Ridge Orchestra, Thrive Asheville, Asheville Humane Society, MANNA FoodBank, LEAF Global Arts, SPARC Foundation, Bountiful Cities, Asheville City Schools Foundation, and YMI Cultural Center. In addition to the opportunity to speak with representatives from each nonprofit, attendees had the chance to meet Mosaic agents and learn more about the many ways Mosaic gives back to the Asheville community.
Car raffle excitement
The evening culminated in an exciting car raffle drawing. Mosaic and United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County teamed up to present the car raffle, which also benefited the 15 nonprofits featured in this year’s Art Walk. Priced at $100 each, the raffle tickets went toward the chance to win a brand-new 2024 Volkswagen ID.4, or the cash equivalent, while simultaneously supporting the amazing work of the represented nonprofit organizations.
The lucky winner was a local and Mosaic client, Cicily Newsom! The car raffle produced $105,000 - a testament to the power of community and the impact we can make when we come together.
Extending our thanks
We would love to extend a BIG thank you to United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County for their integral partnership in helping to raise these funds. Check out their take on the Art Walk and raffle here.
Also, we are so appreciative of our gallery and nonprofit partners as well as the many donors - businesses and individuals - who participated in this fun community-building event!
