Asheville and Western N.C. Wow With a Culture of Creativity, Natural Beauty and Resilience

At Mosaic Realty, the holiday season is a time to reflect on all the things that fill us with gratitude for our unique home. Asheville and the surrounding areas of Western North Carolina have long held an important place in many hearts, recently reinforced by the region’s resilience in the wake of Hurricane Helene. From its eclectic and entrepreneurial spirit, to its deep and vibrant culture of creativity, to its natural Blue Ridge Mountain beauty, it’s easy to see what makes Asheville and Western North Carolina so special. Here are some things we are grateful for as we continue to live, work and play in the Asheville area. Why we love Asheville NC

Western N.C.’s strength, support and resilience

The resiliency the region and its people have shown in the face of tragedy has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. In the days and weeks following Helene’s devastation of the area, neighbors came together to help and support one another in unprecedented ways: chain-sawing through and clearing giant downed trees, aiding those trapped by debris or washed-out roads, volunteering at countless disaster relief stations, even finding novel ways to bring both potable and flushing water to neighborhoods. These strong bonds of support are what make Asheville a special place, and we are grateful to work alongside such selfless neighbors as Western N.C. begins to repair and rebuild.

Resilient Asheville NCAsheville’s culture of creativity

Creativity powers Asheville, from visual arts to live music to dramatic theater, and that creativity continues to surge despite the physical destruction so many of our region’s artists sustained. While Asheville’s River Arts District took an outsized hit, the artists and organizations that call that neighborhood home are finding creative ways to resurrect RAD: Soft reopenings are drawing hundreds of visitors, fundraising events are bringing in much-needed financial support amid the cleanup and rebuilding, and initiatives such as “Love Asheville From Afar” (https://always.exploreasheville.com/love-asheville) give a nationwide platform to Asheville’s homegrown artists and local businesses. Creatively supporting creativity – this is what makes Asheville so special.

Asheville NC is CreativeEnterprising atmosphere in the mountains

Asheville has a reputation for drawing creative and entrepreneurial minds to the region, thanks to an environment that values and nurtures the enterprising spirit. This special atmosphere doesn’t happen by accident. Not only has the Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Coalition and other community organizations developed a variety of resources designed to help small businesses succeed, but services like those offered by the non-profit Mountain Bizworks help to ensure small businesses can start, grow and create jobs. Thanks to this kind of support, Asheville has fashioned an ideal environment for entrepreneurs to develop quality products and services while maintaining an enviable quality of life – something that makes Asheville truly special.

Outdoors in Asheville NCTimeless Blue Ridge beauty

The majestic Blue Ridge peaks that ring the region create a singular setting that’s hard to match. Asheville’s proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as the national forests and parks of Western N.C. means you’re never too far from outdoor beauty and adventure. From hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails, to whitewater rivers and scenic waterfalls, to some of the highest mountain peaks in the eastern U.S., the timeless natural beauty of the region leaves us feeling grateful to call Western N.C. home.
