HGTV Urban Oasis 2015 Home for Sale

HGTV Urban Oasis 2015 homeAsheville, NC -    HGTV Urban Oasis 2015 home will be on the market April 7th.  Asheville real estate firm, Mosaic Community Lifestyle Realty, is excited to announce two weekends of public open houses.  The winner of last year's HGTV Urban Oasis giveaway has decided to sell, and Mosaic Realty is listing the home.  The open house events are located at 17 Russell Street in Asheville.  Doors will be open from 1:00-5:00 pm on April 16th, 17th, 23rd, and 24th.

Last year, the network chose to remodel an existing single-family home in Asheville, a change from its usual new construction and design of apartments in city high-rises.  The nearly 100 year old bungalow in the heart of historic West Asheville that they selected is representative of the city's relaxed and artistic vibe.

The winner of the giveaway, Crystal Harriman of Washington, has decided to sell the home. "It's a beautiful home, and we love it very much," she says, "We had a hard time leaving it when we were in Asheville, but it would be really hard to uproot our children and our life."

This is a rare opportunity for a new buyer to own a home completely remodeled and designed by the poplar network and an A-List Asheville team, including JAG Construction and Wilson Architects.  The home, located in the heart of the hip and scenic mountain town of Asheville, comes entirely furnished and designed by designer Brian Patrick Flynn. Flynn curated some of the furnishings and art from local artists and antique stores.

HGTV Urban Oasis 2015 Great RoomHGTV utilized the expertise of Mike  Figura, owner and president of Mosaic Community Lifestyle Realty, to identify a home that was a good fit for the make-over.  Mosaic Realty is a boutique real estate firm that specializes in urban, historic, and green homes in Asheville, North Carolina.  Figura says, "It was an incredible experience being a part of the process by helping find the HGTV Urban Oasis home for 2015.  Now, I am excited to get to list the home for sale and find an owner who appreciates the style and wants to call it home."

Priority for viewing the home will be given to those who reserve a space.  To schedule a time to view the HGTV Urban Oasis 2015 home, please visit http://mymosaicrealty.com/home/17russell/ . Those who have not signed up will be admitted as space allows.

The home, fully furnished, will be listed for $490,000.  Mosaic Realty will accept sealed bids from potential buyers through the end of April 24th. For additional information on the sale of the HGTV Urban Oasis home, please contact Mike Figura at (828) 707-9556.

Green Thinking Takes Center Stage in Today's Interior Design

Asheville Green Home Design

Planning your dream home in Asheville? Whether you’re starting fresh in a new space, or seeking to update your current home’s decor, trends in interior design are coming into focus this year, with an emphasis on “green” – in more ways than one.

With environmentally conscious construction gaining ground in Asheville, home interior designs are reflecting the movement, incorporating recycled, reclaimed and found materials into the design. Drawing inspiration from Asheville’s naturally stunning surroundings, interior designers are bringing green, airy elements of the outdoors in. Of course, the kitchen continues to be a design focal point, especially in this food-centric city. Following, a few ways to take advantage of today’s trends and give your home’s interior a fresh face:

Home Design Trends AshevilleEnvironmentally Green Design

Sustainability is an across-the-board trend that doesn’t stop at the front door. Finding furnishings that boast durable or recycled materials means less waste: Think a coffee table crafted from reclaimed wood, or a set of eco-chic chairs made from recycled materials. Peruse one of Asheville’s many flea and antique markets for just the right found-object-turned-focal-point. Bare wood surfaces favoring oak trees are a popular choice, and the area’s plentiful growth makes such wood easy to source locally to create a custom countertop.

Naturally Inclined

Bringing the outdoors in has become one of the best interior design trends for 2019. In Asheville, it’s particularly popular for a home’s interior to reflect the city’s airy, Blue Ridge backdrop. This trend can take the form of natural wood and stone materials incorporated into bathrooms, kitchens, even walls.

Also finding fans in 2019 is the color green, with such elements as cabinetry, furnishings and walls taking on the tint. Go for a hunter shade for a fresh take on kitchen cabinets, or accent a living room wall with emerald. For a less dramatic take on the trend, incorporate moss-hued throw pillows or a pine-colored shag rug to make your living space pop.

A nod to nature can be as simple as adding a little living greenery – in the form of easy-care succulents, fast-growing vines and statement potted trees that supply earthy texture. Another plant perk: Those leaves help to purify the air, for fresher, healthier breathing.

Home Design Trends in AshevilleThe Communal Kitchen

The kitchen continues to be the epicenter of the home, fueled not only by Asheville’s food-centric mentality, but by the supply of and ease with which fresh, locally grown produce and meat can be obtained. However, kitchens go beyond cooking: Trends toward making the kitchen a multipurpose yet open area mean communal elements are a must. Consider a kitchen island, or a peninsula, lined with low-profile stools and enough openness to allow family and guests the option to perch or to circulate. Another trend in line with the more relaxed, communal kitchen space: built-in benches, banquettes and booths. Such arrangements allow for better use of space, and more comfortable seating for lounging.

After a day of enjoying the beautiful, invigorating environs of Asheville, it’s nice to come home to a space that continues the theme. Incorporating these natural, airy design trends will make the transition from the great outdoors to the great indoors a seamless and inviting one.

A Multitude of Benefits Are Built Into Asheville's New Construction Homes

New Construction Homes in Asheville

There are many benefits to buying a newly constructed home in Asheville. From energy efficiency to low-cost maintenance to modern design and floor plans, new builds allow you a move-in-ready option so you can settle quickly and start enjoying your life in the mountains!

Minimal maintenance

One obvious benefit to owning a brand-new build is little need for maintenance. Everything – plumbing, appliances, HVAC – is modern and should require little of your attention in the first few years. And if they do, warranties will be in effect for a year or two (depending on the coverage) to handle any initial repair costs.

New homes are also built to require less maintenance in the long run. Long-lasting, engineered countertops can withstand much more than the laminated material of yesteryear; hardwood floors popular in most new builds are more durable, and there’s no carpet to replace; and modern exterior finishes utilize materials that can weather the elements for years longer.

Search for New Asheville NC HomesEnergy efficient

With modern construction and advanced appliances and other technologies, new builds easily integrate the kind of energy efficiency that will protect the environment and save you money on monthly utility bills.

Many builders in Asheville participate in Green Built Homes, a voluntary green building certification program administered by the Green Built Alliance. This program offers a certificate for meeting green-building guidelines, with multiple levels of certification available for a range of price points. With such certification, you can be assured of owning an energy-efficient, environmentally sound home.

Modern design

Most new homes embrace the open-floor design popular with modern lifestyles; think kitchens that blend seamlessly into dining and living spaces, large windows that allow for plenty of natural light, master-on-main designs, and the like.

With a new build, you will be assured that space is used efficiently, and aesthetically pleasing designs dominate. Modern floor-plan flow can be much improved over older homes, allowing for flexibility in furnishings, and supplying a more open, airy feel.
