Residents and visitors alike are drawn to Biltmore Forest for its close proximity to exhilarating outdoor activities, popular tourist attractions, and residential neighborhoods teeming with majestic mansions, historic rambling ranches and gated communities.

The town of Biltmore Forest provides a full range of services including police, public works, water, zoning and sanitation. With the Blue Ridge Parkway slicing the southern end, Hendersonville Road bordering the east, downtown Asheville and I-40 to the north, and the Biltmore Estate running along the western border, Biltmore Forest is perfectly positioned for optimal living and playing.

Biltmore Forest: Encompassed in History

Biltmore Forest AshevilleIn the early 1900s, 1,500 acres of Biltmore Estate bordering on Hendersonville Road was declared a restricted residential section and sold off as lots. The project, which would become Biltmore Forest, began in August 1920, and the town was officially chartered in 1923.

In 1990, the Biltmore Forest Historic District was determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Eligibility included the area’s pioneering method of suburban real estate development; the Colonial revival, craftsman, rustic and Tudor revival styles specific to the area; and the coordination of plan, landscaping and architecture to create identity and character.

Residential zoning designations and conscientious zoning restrictions have helped to retain the historic design. The adoption of tree protection ordinances and community forestry programs have helped to conserve the natural landscaping that is a hallmark of Biltmore Forest.
