Asheville Real Estate Agents Give the Lowdown on Events Around WNC

Eager to experience some exciting events and community opportunities in Asheville and Western North Carolina this July and August? Following are just a few of the many happenings about town, suited to a range of interests and lifestyles, and supported and curated by Mosaic Realty brokers!

Asheville Real Estate Agents EventsFourth of July around Asheville (July 4) –  The Downtown Asheville Independence Day Celebration begins at noon on July 4 in South Slope, and features family-friendly festivities, local food and beverage vendors, and live music, culminating in a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

Shindig on the Green (beginning July 6) – In its 58th season, Shindig on the Green highlights the music and dance traditions of Southern Appalachia with a stage show and informal jam sessions at Pack Square Park. Mosaic is a longtime sponsor of this family-friendly event, which takes place most Saturday evenings (7-10 p.m.) in July and August, and features bluegrass and old-time strings, mountain and clog dancers, and storytellers.

Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands (July 18-21) – Artists fill the concourse and arena levels of Harrah’s Cherokee Center in downtown Asheville for this popular fair, featuring works of clay, wood, metal, glass, leather and mixed media. TerpsicorpsTerpsicorps Theatre of Dance’s “Before the Scream” (July 25-27) – Mosaic is a 2024 season sponsor of this group of professional dance artists from across the country that brings contemporary ballet dance theater to the Asheville community every summer. From July 25-27 at Wortham Center for the Performing Arts, Terpsicorps will present “Before the Scream,” six hilarious takes on everyday annoyances that keep us SCREAMing (inspired by Edvard Munch’s iconic painting “The Scream”).

Love Shine Play Yoga Festival (July 25-28) – Since its inception in 2016, this popular festival has been dedicated to sharing the transformative power of yoga, becoming the Southeast’s premier gathering for yoga, health and wellness. The curated weekend features world-class instructors, dynamic musicians, inspirational speakers, and a vibrant array of vendors at venues around downtown Asheville. Come enjoy yoga, music, outdoor activities and health & wellness experts, as well as a free Mountain Air Market at Pack Square Park.

Yoga Festival AshevilleAVLFest (Aug. 1-4) – This venue-based music festival will fill more than 20 area concert halls, clubs and outdoor venues with an exceptional multi-genre lineup of local, regional and national talent. Purchase a wristband to access the more than 200 shows slated for the Asheville area during the four-day fest.

Sourwood Festival (Aug. 10-11) – This free street festival draws thousands every year to picturesque downtown Black Mountain to celebrate all things local sourwood honey and bee-related. With 200 vendors, crafts, live music, kids’ carnival rides and games, and food, visitors will have plenty of activities to enjoy over the course of the two-day fest.

2024 Summer Cycle (Aug. 24) – This Asheville on Bikes event, slated for 3-7 p.m., features a community ride aimed at promoting the sport of cycling, no matter your age or ability. Asheville on Bikes, of which Mosaic is a proud sponsor, holds a variety of community events throughout the year, including the Fall Out (September), Tour de Fat (October) and Pumpkin Pedaller (October).

Summer Cycle77th Annual North Carolina Apple Festival (Aug. 30-Sept. 2) – With a street fair, arts & crafts, live music and entertainment, children’s activities and rides, parade, food and much more, the Apple Festival draws thousands to downtown Hendersonville every year. The free event is topped off by a King Apple Parade on Labor Day.

Pisgah Area SORBA (ongoing events and volunteer opportunities) – Pisgah Area Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association – of which Mosaic is a proud supporter – is dedicated to creating, maintaining and improving trail systems in the Pisgah Ranger District and surrounding region in order to preserve mountain biking opportunities for the community. The largest nonprofit mountain biking organization in the Southeast, SORBA hosts events throughout the year, including Women’s Mountain Bike Day in May and Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day in October. Additionally, the association hosts cookouts as well as tent and table events at Western N.C. festivals, breweries and other gatherings to promote SORBA’s mission.
