Mountain Dance and Folk Festival (Aug. 1) – Celebrate nearly a century of Appalachian music and dance traditions at the nation’s longest-running folk festival. Shindig on the Green (Aug. 8, 15, 22 & 29) – One of Asheville's most beloved summer traditions returns to Pack Square Park every Saturday evening in August. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy free live bluegrass, mountain music, dancing, storytelling and jam sessions under the stars during the 60th season of this iconic event. Southside Block Party (Aug. 14) – Celebrate community with neighbors, local organizations, music, food and family-friendly fun during Asheville Parks & Recreation's Southside Block Party.
Movies in the Park (Aug. 14) – Pack Square Park transforms into an outdoor movie theater for a free family movie night. Arrive early for games and activities before enjoying the featured film, “Cars,” under the stars. Bring blankets, lawn chairs and your favorite movie snacks.
Highland Market Series – Fall/Back to School (Aug. 16) – Highland Brewing’s Event Center and Barrel Room will play host to this fun afternoon celebrating back to school season. Come browse a curated selection of handcrafted goods and unique art from local vendors, artisans, makers and upcylers at this free, family-friendly event.
Downtown After 5 (Aug. 21) – This popular outdoor concert series culminates in a New Orleans-themed season finale featuring headliner J & The Causeways, Bayou Diesel and the Asheville Second Line. Enjoy free admission, local food trucks and beverages, and an energetic community atmosphere set against the picturesque backdrop of downtown Asheville’s Pack Square Park.
Elevate Childhood Cancer 3D Archery Fundraiser (Aug. 22) – Mosaic Realty and broker Gus Mujica are proud co-sponsors of this unique fundraiser benefiting Elevate Childhood Cancer. Participants can enjoy a 3D archery course while supporting local children and families impacted by pediatric cancer.
The Tomato Jam (Aug. 23) – Celebrate one of summer’s favorite harvests at this free event, in support of ASAP Connections. Enjoy tomato tastings, cooking demonstrations, local produce, live music, vendors and family-friendly activities at the Mule while supporting regional farmers.
RiverLink Volunteer Days (throughout August) – Help protect and preserve the French Broad River by joining RiverLink volunteer opportunities throughout the month.
