Nebo NC Real Estate

Looking for relaxed living immersed in Blue Ridge beauty? Nebo, N.C., 45 minutes east of Asheville, fits the bill. Nebo NC Real Estate

Lake activities abound in Nebo, NC

One of the biggest draws about Nebo is its location. The town is situated on the shores of Lake James, a beautiful 6,812-acre reservoir that offers a variety of water activities, including boating, swimming, fishing and kayaking. Lake James State Park sits on the lake’s southern shore. In 2004, the 605-acre park was expanded by 3,000 acres, making it the largest waterfront state park in N.C. The surrounding terrain is covered with hardwoods, pines and hemlocks; it is home to a range of wildflowers, as well as mountain laurel, rhododendron and flame azalea along the hilly terrain.

Paddy’s Creek and Catawba River are the park’s main areas to enjoy. Paddy’s Creek features a large, sandy beach and swimming area, and includes access to a pavilion, restrooms and concession stand. Hiking and camping spots – including boat-in camping – are plentiful in both areas. Paddy’s Creek offers 15 miles of mountain biking trails for beginners as well as intermediate riders. Two miles east of Lake James State Park entrance you’ll find two boat ramps, Hidden Cove and Canal Bridge, offering access for motorboats, sailboats and small watercraft.

Nebo: a paradise for hiking and biking

In addition to its proximity to Lake James, Nebo is also surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and all they have to offer. The area is a great base for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Plenty of scenic overlooks means that you can find the perfect spot for an afternoon picnic while taking in the stunning views.

Nebo also has a rich history. The town was founded in the early 1800s by Methodists who were looking for a place to build a campground. The campground eventually grew into a small town, and today the area is home to several historic buildings.

Real estate in Nebo offers an array of living options, everything from mountainside cottages to modern green homes to waterfront lots for building your custom creation.
