Part of Polk County, Mill Spring (pop. 4,500) sits 38 miles southeast of Asheville. The town was founded by Colonel Ambrose Mills, who erected a saw mill and a post office in the community. Enjoy wineries and breweries: Mill Spring is home to several wineries and breweries, including Iron Key Brewing, Parker-Binns Vineyard, Overmountain Vineyards and Russian Chapel Hills Winery.
